“We have touched on all the technological updates in robotic surgery, in stones, in the prostate. Increasingly, urology is certainly, among the surgical disciplines, the one that gives the most space to these new technologies, thanks to robotics, thanks to lasers. In gallstones, we certainly have the possibility today of using increasingly less invasive instruments that allow us to go from the bladder, to the ureter, to the kidney, with tiny instruments that have energies, almost always lasers, which allow us to open obstructions, stenoses, to break stones with almost outpatient treatments, pathologies of the prostate in an aging population, where a large part of the male population reaches the age of 84-85, obviously requires very advanced technologies”. This was said by Vincenzo Mirone, communication manager of the Italian Society of Urology (SIU), on the occasion of the 97th Siu National Congress which ends on Sunday in Bari.
“We are already planning a conference that will move to Campania in November 2025. We will do it in Sorrento – announces the specialist – The 2024 edition in the Apulian capital went very well: 1,500-1,600 registered, truly an important conference. Many young specialists involved. Many foreign guests, friends of the Italian Urology Society from all over Europe, even from the United States: I think this is the right path”, he concludes.
