Alpine on the occasion of Paris Motor Show 2024 show the concept A390_βa showcar that anticipates the second step of Dream Electric Garage of the brand, placing itself between the A290 and the future A110 electric. The name follows the traditional Alpine nomenclature: “A” followed by three numbers, with the 3 indicating the size of the car and the 90 placing it among the models intended for everyday use. There letter “β” (beta) reports that the model is in an intermediate stage of development, before the official launch as A390.
Alpine A390_β electric fastback
The Alpine A390_β showcar features a bold and refined design, with a dynamic profile and fluid that resembles a sculpture. The monolithic cockpit takes inspiration from one drop of watera natural shape chosen for its balance between function and aerodynamics. The sides reflect the classic line of Alpine vehicles, giving an impression of movement even when the car is stationary.
Upholstered in the iconic shade Specular Bluethe body of the A390_β takes on bright, deep shades, with paint particles that appear to vibrate in the light. This game of contrasts enhances the tapered lines of the show car, giving an elegant and technological appearance. The luminous signature, in continuity with the Alpenglow conceptstands out for a front and rear light strip and “Cosmic Dust” illuminated triangles, evoking the image of a comet crossing the atmosphere.
The attention toaerodynamics it is evident in every detail. The “flying bridge” The front directs air over the vehicle, while the micro-perforated grille optimizes flow, and the side vents accelerate the natural movement of air. The rear, conceptual and futuristic, follows the principle “Light Follows Function”with the light highlighting the aerodynamic elements, while the central fin, inspired by the racing cars of Le Mansoffers stability and fluidity.
Another unique feature is the rear light strip which can stretch or contract by 80mm, allowing the A390_β to switch from a short-tail to a long-tail design, improving the drag coefficient and increasing autonomy of the vehicle. The circles, inspired by the crystals of the snowflakesare both lightweight and durable, with a 22” front and 23” rear design. They are embellished with illuminated hubcaps by a bluish halo, while the transparency effect of the central flange recalls a subtle layer of iceemphasizing function Active Torque Vectoring for more precise and dynamic driving.
F1 cockpit
The cockpit of the Alpine A390_β, accessible thanks to the wardrobe opening of the door without pillars central, presents two distinct environments: in the front area dark colors dominate, with a triangular cockpit with a holographic effect and a variable diameter steering wheel focused on the driver.
The rear part, however, is characterized by white colour and memory foam materials, to amplify space and comfort. The floor is covered in recycled carbonwith an effect that recalls moving asphalt.
The futuristic steering wheel integrates information screens and a glass for starting, as well as a control to maximize engine power. There regenerative braking It is controlled with the paddles behind the steering wheel. The passenger has a glass plate onto which the driving information is projected.
Furthermore, the carbon driver’s seat has two positions selectable via a red handle: one for daily driving and one “F.1” for sporty drivingwhich also changes the position of the steering wheel and pedals.
Alpine A390_β three electric motors
The platform AmpR Medium of the Alpine A390_β has been modified to integrate a powertrain with three electric motorsunique in its segment: one on the front axle and two on the rear axle.
This system is combined with a sophisticated Active torque vectoringwhich distributes torque between the axles and between the rear wheels, improving cornering dynamics. Being a show car, Alpine has not disclosed data on power, torque, range or performance.
