The 1998 survival horror masterpiece, Resident Evil 2, returns in a completely renewed guise and is preparing to terrorize iOS users. Capcom, the game’s manufacturer, announced the arrival of the remake on the App Store, allowing players to immerse themselves in the zombie apocalypse directly from their mobile devices. This re-release is not a simple conversion, but a true reinterpretation of the classic, the same release on PC and console, with a series of innovations that modernize the gaming experience without distorting the atmosphere. Among the most significant innovations, the third-person view stands out, which offers a more dynamic and engaging perspective than the fixed camera of the original.
The interface has also been modified, with an automatically updating map and a control system optimized for touch devices. Obviously there will be no shortage of elements that made Resident Evil 2 famous, such as the environmental puzzles and the iconic weapons, including the powerful Matilda pistol. The story traces the events of Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, two policemen dealing with the horror of a city invaded by the undead. After completing the main campaign, players will be able to access a variety of extra content, including the “Survivor” mode, which will test their survival skills. Resident Evil 2 will be available for download starting December 31, 2024 and will be compatible with iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max or later, iPad with M1 processor or later and Mac with Apple Silicon. The game will be free, but will offer in-app purchases after playing at the beginning of the adventure.
