Rosgosstrakh: 52% of Russians believe that it is safer to buy an apartment before marriage
Half of Russians are convinced that the most reliable way to save housing during a divorce is to purchase it before marriage. How compatriots solve the housing problem with an eye on a possible divorce was found out by the insurance company Rosgosstrakh and the financial marketplace Sravni. The survey results RBC.
18 percent of respondents prefer to clarify the issue of apartment division in the marriage contract in advance. 12 percent of respondents are sure that in any case, during a divorce, the living space should be divided in half – regardless of whose expense the purchase was paid for. 18 percent of citizens believe that during a divorce, the apartment should remain with the spouse with whom the children will live.

However, the housing issue does not arise in all cases. According to 30 percent of study participants, they do not have their own living space: 21 percent of them live with relatives, others rent an apartment. The sole owners of the apartment are 36 percent of citizens: 12 percent of such respondents continue to live alone, and the remaining 24 percent live in it with loved ones, but the share is not assigned to them.
19 percent of respondents own housing jointly, and the shares were specified in the purchase and sale agreement. 15 percent also registered the apartment as common shared ownership, but not by virtue of an agreement, but simply because they purchased it after the wedding.
The regime of separate ownership of property of spouses allows you to issue a family mortgage twice. Also, both partners can take advantage of the benefit if only one of them is indicated as the buyer in the mortgage agreement, and the other signs consent to the transaction with a notary.
