Longdue is a new team formed by those who were supposed to be the main developers of the sequel to Disco Elysiumwhich was later canceled following the turbulent events that led to the disintegration of the ZA/UM team, which is developing a new “Psychological RPG” seen as a sort of spiritual sequel to the excellent starting role-playing game.
Taking advantage of the fifth anniversary of Disco Elysium, Longdue therefore announced the formation of the team and also something about the new project in development, destined to continue in the style of the progenitor but offering a new story and a new setting, with the desire to represent a new point of reference for “artistic” cRPGs.
Longdue is still a small team, made up of a dozen developers who however have great experience in the industry, coming from teams such as Bungie, Rockstar Games and Brave at Night.
First details on a strange but interesting RPG
The new game in development aims to explore the interconnections between conscience and subconsciousapparently, between the seen and the unseen, taking up the more psychological elements of Disco Elysium.
It is set in a world where “choices are intertwined between the character’s psyche and the environment”, in which players find themselves traveling in a constantly changing landscapeshaped by internal and external forces.
The new role-playing game introduces a mechanic defined as a “psychogeographic RPG”, in which every decision reshapes both the world and the characters who inhabit it, according to Longdue.
In this experience, the lines between mind and environment blur, colliding and transforming with every choice, guiding players through an ever-evolving narrative landscape.
The description is very interesting and the fact that it comes from some of the authors of Disco Elysium is certainly promising, so we are waiting for further information, starting with the title of the game in question.
