The Haas team has formalized a technical partnership with Toyota Gazoo Racing, the division of the Japanese company that deals with motorsport programs. Toyota will become the official technical partner of Haas, the two companies will share resources and know-how. The first rumors about this agreement emerged last summer (reported by Motorsport.com on July 10) but there was an immediate denial from the US team.
The first visible effect of the partnership will be visible on the weekend of the United States Grand Prix, with the Toyota Gazoo Racing logo appearing on the cars of Hulkenberg and Magnussen. Toyota will provide Haas with design services and technical personnel, in return receiving specific Formula 1 know-how and commercial services. More details will emerge at a press conference scheduled in Japan in the next few hours.

The key man in the agreement is the Haas team principal, Ayao Komatsu. “I am extremely excited that Haas F1 Team and Toyota Gazoo Racing have joined together in this technical partnership – he commented – having a world leader in the automotive sector at your side is a great opportunity, I am sure that this partnership will guarantee benefits for both parties. We will have the opportunity to develop and accelerate our respective technical and engineering skills.”
“It will be a great benefit to Haas to be able to draw on the resources and knowledge available at Toyota Gazoo Racing, while benefiting from their technical and manufacturing processes, will be instrumental in being able to grow and continue our desire to further increase our competitiveness in Formula 1. In return we offer a platform that will be available to Toyota Gazoo Racing to enhance their internal engineering capabilities.”

Komatsu said the tie-up with Toyota had received the approval of Ferrari, a partner of the US team since its first steps in Formula 1 with the supply of power units, transmission and other components.
At the beginning of 2024 Haas also extended its agreement with Ferrari to continue the partnership which also includes the use of the Maranello wind tunnel. “I am obviously happy with the support we have had from Formula 1 and our long-time partner, Scuderia Ferrari,” concluded Komatsu.
