The General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Human Sciences, announced yesterday the launch of the “Imams Localization” program to train and qualify citizen imams and preachers, as part of their joint efforts to qualify citizens in various legal fields.
The program, which lasts for four months, with the participation of 25 citizens, includes a number of topics, including the imam’s jurisprudence, linguistic and applied skills, intonation skills and phonetics, the great values and ethics of the imam, Zayed’s legacy, intellectual security, skills in psychology and sociology, recitation and the arts of public speaking. And religious institutions in the UAE, in addition to practical training for participants.
The head of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, Dr. Omar Habtoor Al-Darai, confirmed in his speech during the launch of the program that the “Settlement of Imams” program comes in compliance with the state’s vision in this regard, and with the directives of the wise leadership and the strategy of the UAE government.
He said: “The state’s mosques are extremely committed, disciplined, and responsible, and their mission is to ensure the national interest, serve this blessed state, and preserve its security, culture, and people. The UAE has mosques that are models of civilization, free of extremism, chaos, and personalization, and the imam we qualify is a moderate imam. A conscious learner, imbued with his national identity, who will be a protective shield for his country, its leadership, and his society, armed with human values, and in harmony with scientific and global developments.”
He added: “We have enough programmes, studies and strategies, and there is no choice but to localize the functions of mosques. Localization is a national policy, as the wise leadership has confirmed that (empowering national cadres comes at the top of our priorities), so we must be self-sufficient, and we look forward to a sustainable future in religious human resources.” Nationalism.
He continued: “This huge project is a shared national responsibility, and from here we start, from the university, and from the memorization centers, and it requires from us patience and perseverance, seriousness and diligence, honesty, sincerity, and planning. Every citizen who joins this job is a profit, an achievement, and a pride for us and the nation, and in this the concept of sustainability is firmly established.” “By sustaining distinguished religious competencies, which will benefit the country and its people.”
For his part, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Mohammed bin Zayed University for Human Sciences, Dr. Mohammed Rashid Al Hameli, said: “The Imams’ nationalization program comes as an embodiment of the vision of the wise leadership to qualify and develop our religious cadres, and enhance their scientific and intellectual capabilities in a way that serves the nation.”
