Politico: the chances of meeting Zelensky’s demands on Ukraine are extremely low
The chances of fulfilling the demands of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for further support for Kyiv are extremely low, convinced Politico columnists.
The publication assessed the likelihood of compliance with the politician’s demands on a scale of “almost no chance” to “very likely.” Ukraine’s membership in the North Atlantic Alliance, which Zelensky presents as a guarantee of security, was assessed in the material as “almost without a chance.”
“Although NATO has said that Ukraine will one day join the organization, the timing has not been determined – the United States and Germany lead a group of skeptics who fear Kyiv’s admission,” the publication says. At the same time, Ukraine has signed several dozen bilateral agreements with its allies, which, however, “do not provide anything similar to the security guarantees provided by NATO membership,” the authors of the article note.
