Recently, nintendo confirmed that it will carry out a series of cloud tests for the Switch Online, something that many users around the world can participate in. While the true nature of these tests remains a mystery, many have pointed out that this could mark the return of Miiverse.
Miiverse was a social network exclusive to the Wii U, which was quite popular at the time. However, with the closure of this console’s servers, the platform came to an end. Although Nintendo has not yet confirmed the true nature of the tests for Switch Online, Laura Kate Dale, journalist and consultant in multiple areas, has indicated that Miiverse could return soon. This is what he said:
“I want to believe that Miiverse will return. Limited numbers in regions with different languages, could definitely be a test for a moderation strategy etc.
Try it now and make it a Switch 2 launch feature! Bring it back, Nintendo!”

While it wouldn’t be part of the Switch, Miiverse could very well be a feature within Nintendo’s next console. Although some have also pointed out that these tests are related to the inclusion of GameCube to Switch Online, the fact that these sessions are related to languages in multiple regionswould be a clue for the return of the social network in the future.
For now we can only wait for more information to become available, something that will surely take some time. On related topics, you can learn more about these tests here. Likewise, this is the new trailer for Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood.
Author’s Note:
Miiverse was an interesting concept, but it’s not necessary, especially considering that this social network could well keep Switch users away from the rest of the communities.
