A World Health Organization report, issued today, Thursday, stated that vaccines can play an important role in combating deaths caused by antimicrobial resistance.
The World Health Organization said that more than half a million lives could be saved every year.
The organization, affiliated with the United Nations, explained that “vaccines are essential in combating antimicrobial resistance, and must be integrated into national and global strategies to mitigate antimicrobial resistance, and in the decision-making process regarding the development, development and use of vaccines.”
Antimicrobial agents include substances active against bacteria, but also against viruses, fungi and parasites.
According to estimates by the World Health Organization, vaccinations could prevent the deaths of 515,000 people annually by preventing infection and transmission of pathogens.
The organization reported that if the administration of vaccines increases, the need for antimicrobials will decrease, which in turn will reduce the number of resistance cases, and thus reduce the number of patient deaths as a result of antimicrobial resistance.
On the other hand, if a surge in infections is prevented, billions of dollars in health care costs could be saved, she added.
