The financial market increased bets on an accumulated reduction of 50 basis points (bps) in interest rates by the Federal Reserve (Fed, the North American central bank) until December, according to the CME Group monitoring tool. The expansion in pricing occurs amid the market’s reaction to the consumer price indicator (CPI) in the United States, which pointed to a slowdown in the full index on an annual basis, but an acceleration in the core, and a higher-than-expected increase of unemployment benefit claims.
At around 12:10 pm (Brasília time), the CME Group tool showed an 86.6% probability of cuts of 50 basis points accumulated until December.
A minority portion, 13.1%, believes in an accumulated relief of 25 bps. The possibility of maintaining the interest rate until December was 0.2%.
