The 78th Icare National Congress of the Italian Society of Anesthesia, Analgesia, Resuscitation and Intensive Care (Siaarti) opens today in Naples, at the Mostra d’Oltremare, an event that represents the most important annual event for Italian anesthetists and resuscitators, who until Saturday 12 October will discuss the future challenges of the discipline and clinical and scientific innovations.
Icare 2024 has already attracted over 3,000 participants – including doctors, researchers, healthcare workers, veterinarians and exhibitors – becoming an unmissable opportunity for the comparison between Italian and international clinical and scientific excellence. “Icare 2024 is designed as a crucial meeting moment to discuss the new challenges faced by anesthetists and resuscitators in Italy and around the world. It is a unique opportunity for updating and professional growth for all participants”, declares the president Siaarti Antonino Giarratano. This year, the congress will feature over 130 scientific sessions distributed across 7 rooms and will see the presence of 72 exhibitors on an exhibition area of 867 square meters. A very important aspect will be the high-fidelity clinical simulation, with an area of 60 square meters dedicated to training participants through realistic scenarios to manage critical situations.
The appointment also has a particular significance as it celebrates the 90th anniversary of Siaarti, a company that has played a fundamental role in the development of anaesthesia, resuscitation and intensive care techniques in Italy. “We are celebrating 90 years of an illustrious history, made of innovation and excellence in the field of training and scientific research – explains Giarratano – We want to look to the future by continuing to improve the quality of care for our patients, while guaranteeing continuous training and high level for our specialists”.
Siaarti “today is a reference not only in the field of anesthesiology, resuscitation, intensive care and pain – underlines Giarratano – but also for all those institutions with which our Society continually compares itself and with the authority that derives from it from the production of good clinical practices and guidelines. The same institutions that honor us today, here in Naples, with their presence”. In fact, the general director of Agenas, Domenico Mantoan, and the president of the Higher Institute of Health, Rocco Domenico Bellantone, have announced that they will bring their greetings to the inaugural ceremony of the congress. Also participating in the ceremony will be the councilor for health and greenery of the municipality of Naples, Vincenzo Santagada, and the director of the infectious diseases department of the Higher Institute of Health, Anna Teresa Palamara.
During the congress, innovative topics such as artificial intelligence, wearable devices and telemedicine will be discussed, which are transforming clinical practice and promoting greater integration between hospital and territory. “Technological innovation is revolutionizing our work and Icare 2024 will be an opportunity to analyze how these technologies can be concretely applied in daily clinical practice – says Elena Bignami, vice-president of Siaarti and future president for the three-year period 2025-2027 – The introduction of new technologies, such as telemedicine, allows us to improve the management of patients not only in the hospital, but also in the area and at home. The union between hospital and area is crucial to guarantee continuity of care”.
The Village of the Regions will be a space for discussion on Italian regional healthcare systems, with the aim of standardizing the quality of care at a national level and encouraging greater collaboration between the different hospital entities. “The Icare congress – concludes Giarratano – is not only a platform for professional development, but also a place of reflection to chart the path towards future challenges”.
