The Valencian socialists have announced this Thursday that they will take the contracting and awarding of the Som de la Terreta festival to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, considering that, allegedly, the crimes of document falsification, misappropriation of public funds and prevarication could have been committed. This has been communicated by the spokesperson of the PSPV-PSOE in the Cortes, José Muñoz, and the Secretary of Organization of the PSPV-PSOE, Vicent Mascarell, who have warned that “we could be facing the first case of corruption of the Popular Party of Carlos Mazón” . “We are going to defend the public resources of Valencians,” they have indicated.
The festival was awarded for four million euros to a company created just seven months before. The socialist spokesperson has pointed out that “the entire award and contracting process sounds very strange and reminds us of past times in which we saw how the Popular Party spread corruption throughout the Valencian Community” and has stressed that “we will go to the ultimate consequences.” ”. Furthermore, he has accused Mazón of “tremendous opacity with all the documentation of this contract.”
Muñoz has announced that the PSPV-PSOE is going to request “the record book of visits to the Palau de la Generalitat to know who is entering, what meetings are taking place and if these are later formalized in this type of contracts that generate so many doubts in us. ”.
For his part, the Secretary of Organization of the PSPV-PSOE, Vicent Mascarell, has pointed out that “Eduardo Zaplana [expresidente de la Generalitat] It took us 20 years to catch Mazón and in just one year”: and he stated that “Valencian socialists will always work for public resources and the dignity of Valencians.” With this, he regretted that “the PP was not ashamed of stealing and embezzling with the pope’s visit, was not ashamed of stealing and embezzling with education and public health, and is not ashamed now, presumably, of using public resources in a date as important as October 9th.”
The festival included, among others, performances by groups such as Taburete on the occasion of the celebration of the Valencian Community Day. In addition, other performances were scheduled such as Abraham Mateo, Marlon, Íñigo Quintero, Maldita Nerea, Chanel, or Nena Daconte in Alicante, Valencia and Vila-real.
The socialists already reported that the Presidency of the Generalitat had denied them information about the file “to know how the award of this million-dollar contract had been carried out and we have been denied,” as Muñoz assured. Presidency sources then indicated that the contract had been published on the State Public Procurement Platform since October 4, one day before the scheduled events began.
