The Acting Professions Syndicate in Egypt honored His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, within the framework of the seventh session of the “The Acting Professions for Egyptian Theater” Festival, in appreciation of the contributions and efforts of His Highness, in supporting and sponsoring theater and art in the Arab world.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture in Sharjah, representing His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, received the shield of honor during the opening of the festival, which was held yesterday evening in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
The ceremony was attended by Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber Khalil, Dr. Ashraf Zaki, head of the festival, head of the Acting Professions Syndicate, Counselor Saleh Al-Saadi, representative of the UAE Embassy in Egypt, and Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, honorary president of the festival, the former Egyptian Minister of Culture, Mohamed Riad, president of the National Theater Festival, and a large number of Egyptian and Arab artists, playwrights, and intellectuals.
The Acting Professions Syndicate honored the artists, star Yahya Al-Fakharani, director Samir Al-Asfouri, and the name of the late artist Ahmed Rateb.
Abdullah Al Owais said, in his speech during the ceremony: “We are pleased to be with you at this joyful ceremony, on the occasion of the Egyptian Theater Syndicate of Acting Professions Festival, where the theater reunites again within artistic and theatrical activities witnessed by the Egyptian cultural scene.”
He appreciated the role of Egyptian official and private institutions in enriching the Arab cultural scene, conveying the greetings of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and thanking His Highness for his appreciation for the honor.
For his part, Ashraf Zaki praised the role of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in Arab theatre, and said: “His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah has a fundamental role in the renaissance of Arab theatre, through continuous cultural initiatives, on both the material and moral levels, and also the prominent role in theatrical writing, which constitutes an important position.” among Arab intellectuals.
He added that His Highness’s patronage included many cultural sectors, and theater had its share of this broad civilizational vision, and his great efforts in supporting the Arab theater movement had a clear impact, and His Highness’s great support included establishing a nursing home for great artists in Egypt, which is appreciated and valued by every artist and creator. It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Theater Syndicate of Acting Professions Festival is an annual event that aims to support and encourage young talents in the field of acting and theatre.
The festival was launched in 2016 under the supervision of the Syndicate of Acting Professions, headed by the artist Ashraf Zaki, focusing on presenting new youth theatrical works, and providing the opportunity for emerging talents, alongside various generations of members of the Syndicate, to express their artistic abilities through distinctive theatrical performances.
