The CSU meets at the party conference. It is well known that party leader Söder is not a friend of the Greens. Now he tightens his tone again. And also makes an announcement to his deputy.
Munich – CSU boss Markus Söder is calling for new elections and the immediate resignation of Federal Ministers Robert Habeck and Annalena Baerbock in view of the economic downturn. The traffic light government is “in a political coma,” said the Bavarian Prime Minister Picture. That’s why new elections as quickly as possible would be the right way. “Medically, one would say that this coalition is clinically dead, nothing more is happening.”
The CSU chairman described Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck and Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (both Greens) as the “faces of the crisis”. “These are the protagonists. They have to resign,” said Söder. Instead, both clung to power. “They are pandering to the Union in a surprising, almost embarrassing way. And the SPD also has these similar signs of dissolution.”
Söder rules out coalition with the Greens
Söder has recently repeatedly ruled out coalitions between the Union and the Greens. CSU vice-president Manfred Weber, on the other hand, advised keeping the option of a black-green coalition in the federal government open. When asked about this, Söder said Picturethis is “a minor opinion. But the matter will not be decided in Brussels, but in Bavaria and Berlin.” Weber is also head of the conservative EPP group in the European Parliament.
CSU party conference: “Strict limits on migration are urgently needed”
The CSU will meet for its party conference next weekend. The CSU is calling for strict limits on immigration, sometimes in drastic terms, with an upper limit of well under 100,000 asylum applications per year. Last year more than 300,000 asylum applications were registered in Germany.
“A strict limitation of migration is urgently needed,” says the draft of a key motion for the CSU party conference next weekend German press agency is present. “Overall, the number of asylum applications must therefore be reduced to well under 100,000 per year.” There is also a need for a fundamental reform of asylum law and a “real turnaround” in migration policy – and all of this without any bans on thinking.
In another key motion that is to be decided at the party conference, the CSU calls, among other things, for the reintroduction of compulsory military service and “in the future” for general compulsory military service for men and women and significantly higher defense spending. (dpa/jal)
