Raptures|At the opening of the new Power Suomenoja, there were already thousands of people waiting at seven in the morning. The first one had arrived on Tuesday evening.
Clock it’s 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning. Thousands of people have gathered under the bright orange neon sign in Espoo’s Hannuspenello.
It can’t mean anything other than the free distribution of buckets or the opening of the electronics store Power Suomenoja.
This time it’s the latter.
In June, Power’s flagship store opened in Tammisto, Vantaa.
Power Suomen’s marketing manager Ville Laakso promised earlier in its announcementthat Suomenoja’s opening will be of the same size as Tammisto’s opening.
HS arrived on the spot to find out if the autumn storm prevented the queues or if the marketing manager’s words were true.
“Properly good morning everyone,” says a cheerful female voice into the microphone, “it’s 6:39 a.m., so only 21 minutes until opening.”
The crowd applauds.
The host continues by saying that he heard that the first people waiting in line arrived two days earlier.
They must be found.
A person from Vantaa is standing at the head of the queue Lau Hojan. He has appeared before Power on Tuesday night.
And for a reason: Power has promised to offer electronic gifts to the first people in line, and Hojan is in desperate need of a new phone. There was a hole in the middle of his old one.
Hojan prepared for a two-night wait with a yoga mat and dumbbells. A yoga mat for resting purposes, dumbbells keep the body warm.
“I was a little surprised that I was the first, because I expected that there would already be people here,” says Hojan.
Queuing people has been tested. Wednesday night’s storm was not necessarily the most ideal weather to be outside.
According to Hojan, it wasn’t.
“I was really cold and feeling bad,” says Hojan.
