Mexico City.– Due to the record of defects in the legislative procedure for its approval, the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) presented before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) an action of unconstitutionality against the reform of the Judicial Branch of the Federation.
“We are convinced that this reform will not improve justice. It is just an attempt by the ruling party to control the Judiciary,” argued the general secretary, Carolina Viggiano.
“We required a reform of justice, not a reform of the Judiciary. And during its approval in the Congress of the Union, defects were recorded, since it was carried out with several irregularities, including the violation of two suspensions at that time.” Viggiano highlighted that there was a lack of public deliberation on the part of the ruling power, as well as a lack of ruling and discussion in the federal entities.
The national leader of the party, Alejandro Moreno, warned that “there must be enormous responsibility because the reform is crazy. It does not resolve the issue of justice. It hurts the balance of powers, breaks the judicial system and violates the democratic regime. What “What we want is for there to be certainty, certainty, for them to get to work. We have to give results in health, in security.”
He assured that PRI legislators cannot miss the opportunity to hold the debate. “We cannot fail to point out the errors, the inconsistencies, the violations of the law. Whoever does not respect a suspension commits a crime.” In that sense, he considered that each of the jurisdictional bodies must be responsible for ensuring that the law is applied. “We have to make them respect the law. There has to be the rule of law. The law is the law, and they have to respect it,” he said.
Senator Viggiano expressed her confidence that the Supreme Court will declare the reform invalid, since, she stated, in addition to everything, there is a violation of the principle of division of powers, it subordinates the Judiciary to other powers and dismantles the governing axes of the Rule of Law in Mexico.
