Mexico City.– Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna starred in a night of fun and nostalgia that quickly became a viral phenomenon on social networks.
The actors were seen at a karaoke in Polanco, Mexico City, where they showed their vocal skills and their great connection with fans.
One of the highlights of the night was the performance of ” Quiero Que Me Quieras “, the main theme of the film Rudo y Cursi (2008), in which Gael García Bernal played “Cursi”, a young soccer player with dreams of fame and success. In karaoke, Gael not only surprised with his voice, but also replicated the same dance steps that he performed more than a decade ago in the film, which revived the iconic scene from the film directed by Carlos Cuarón.
The show didn’t end there. Together with Diego Luna, they joined a group of young people to sing “Será Porque Te Amo”, the popular song by the Italian band Ricchi e Poveri, which added more fun to the atmosphere.
What was a casual night among friends also became a fun strategy to promote their new series, The Machine, which marks the actors’ long-awaited return to the screen after years of working separately. References include the documentary that Luna directed about the Mexican boxing idol, JC Chávez (2007), and projects they have produced to reflect on the reality of Mexico, such as the series Aqui en la Tierra and Pan y Circo.
