On the occasion of D23, ABC 13 spoke with the head of Marvel TV about the upcoming revival of Daredevil, starring Charlie Cox in Daredevil Born Again. The producer compared the MCU TV show to Game of Thrones, due to the presence of political intrigue and, of course, the violent tone of the series.
Winderbaum explained, “Imagine if New York City were messy and troubled and scary like the world of Game of Thrones. All these forces are vying for control, and it can give you great hope at times, it’s very violent at times and dark – but there is also light at the end of the tunnel, if only you could fight for it.”
Daredevil Born Again will feature different characters
Marvel Studios promises big events regarding this series. Some time ago, the head of Marvel Television Brad Winderbaum told The Official Marvel Podcast that Matt Murdock’s upcoming return will take a similar approach to that of X-Men ’97.
“Daredevil is amazing. In some ways it’s similar to X-Men ’97, because it’s reviving something that fans love,” Winderbaum began. “But it’s taking it in a new direction.”
“These characters have matured. The universe is different from what it was. Things have changed. Society has changed. Matt and Wilson have changed, and their characters will clash in ways we’ve never seen before,” Winderbaum said at the time. “It’s no longer enough to try to kill each other. There’s a whole political game in between.”
