The terrible situation in which CBP found migrants
CBP’s tasks are not limited to the detention of illegal migrants trying to enter the United Statesmany times it is the agents themselves who save them from life or death situations, such as venturing without the proper equipment to cross the Sonoran Desert.
This is what happened with the Yuma Air Division and CBP agents in Ajo, Arizonawhen they had to enter the desert to rescue a group of 5 migrants who were lost in the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge.
Thanks to the use of visual cues such as campfires, The agents were able to find the group in trouble. Upon arriving at the site they found a worrying situation: a 14-year-old minor migrant presented severe signs of dehydration, one of the most frequent causes of death in the deserts. However, thanks to the agency’s quick efforts, an efficient rescue of the 5 migrants was possible.
