The Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo (Alesp) approved on Tuesday, 8, Bill 655/2024, which authorizes the contracting of a public-private partnership for the construction and operation of the immersed tunnel that will connect Santos to Guarujá. The project had been forwarded by the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) just over a month ago.
Included in the New Growth Acceleration Program (PAC), the tunnel will be the biggest project in the program.
The planned investment is R$5.96 billion, with a contribution of R$2.7 billion by the federal government and the same amount by the São Paulo government. The remaining amount will be obtained with the participation of the private sector, through PPP.
Approximately 1.5 kilometers long, the project will serve passenger cars, trucks and motorcycles. In addition, it is planned to build a Light Rail Vehicle (VLT) line passing through the tunnel.
The opening is scheduled for 2028.
