Death of actress Francesca Carocci, two doctors investigated
Two doctors from the Aurelia Hospital in Rome have been registered as suspects for manslaughter on charges of having mistaken myocarditis for an anxiety attack as part of the investigation into the death of 28-year-old actress Francesca Carocci.
The interpreter died in March 2024 but two days earlier, on February 28, she went to the emergency room of the Aurelia Hospital in Rome due to a sudden pang in her chest. The doctors, however, sent her home with a painkiller.
As revealed by The Republicthe autopsy revealed that the young woman suffered from a heart disease. The 28-year-old, in fact, had been subjected to a series of tests, including an electrocardiogram, which is why the Rome prosecutor’s office subsequently decided to investigate the matter further.
For the medical examiner Luigi Cipolloni, in fact, the tests indicated suffering in the cardiac organ. The results, therefore, “would have been read too superficially”.
“The ECG trace and the high troponin – we read – should have suggested another course of action to the doctors”. Francesca Carocci, however, was sent home with the consequence of causing her death.
Two days later, in fact, the 28-year-old had a heart attack during the second ambulance transport. After resuscitation, she suffered a second heart attack which unfortunately proved fatal.
