Brazil’s annual inflation accelerates to 4.42% in September; the target is 3%, with a tolerance range of 1.5 percentage points
The Minister of Planning, Simone Tebetsaid that the September inflation increase of 0.44% is within the target range for 2024 and that this is “very important” for the “Brazilians’ pocket”. THE IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) released the result this Wednesday (9.Oct.2024).
Accumulated inflation in 12 months accelerated from 4.24% to 4.42%. It is measured by the IPCA (Broad National Consumer Price Index). There was deflation of 0.02% in August.
Brazil’s inflation target is 3%, with a tolerance range of 1.5 percentage points higher or lower – from 1.5% to 4.5%.
In the year to date, inflation was 3.31%. In September, the index was mainly impacted by the housing groups, which rose 1.80%, and food and beverages, which rose 0.50%.
“We are within the target range for 2024, and this is very important for Brazilians’ pockets and for the country’s economy”, declared Tebet on his Threads profile.
