His Excellency Wavel Ramkalawan, President of the Republic of Seychelles, was briefed by an Emirati government delegation on the developments and achievements of bilateral cooperation between the governments of the Emirates and Seychelles in the areas of government work, and witnessed the launch of the second batch of the Executive Leadership Program of the Government of Seychelles, which it is implementing in cooperation with the government of the UAE.
The President of the Republic of Seychelles, upon receiving the delegation of the Government Knowledge Exchange Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs of the UAE government, praised the partnership’s achievements in the areas of government modernization, expressing his hope that it will be developed for the benefit of the societies of the two friendly countries. He stressed the importance of continuing efforts in building the capabilities of government cadres in Seychelles on future foundations in cooperation with the UAE government, and enabling them to participate in leading development and development efforts and serving the people of their community.
For his part, Abdullah Nasser Lootah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, stressed that the leadership of the UAE is keen to strengthen cooperative relations and constructive partnership with the Republic of Seychelles, noting that the exchange of knowledge and experiences, building capabilities, and developing government work models, constitute basic axes. For the vision and directives of the UAE leadership to strengthen international partnerships aimed at building, developing and serving societies, and ensuring the best future opportunities for its coming generations.
His Excellency Wavel Ramkalawan witnessed the launch of the Executive Leadership Program for the Government of Seychelles, inspired by the UAE model of government leadership, in the presence of Abdullah Nasser Lootah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, and Ahmed Saeed Rashid Al Hamid Al Neyadi, Chargé d’Affairs at the UAE Embassy to the Republic of Seychelles.
The launch was attended by the Seychelles government: His Excellency Ahmed Afif – Vice President of the Republic of Seychelles, His Excellency Nader Hassan, Minister of Finance, His Excellency Peggy Vidot, Minister of Health, His Excellency Jean-François Ferrari, Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy, and His Excellency Marie Céline Zialor, Minister of Youth, Sports and Family.
In its second batch, the Seychelles Government Executive Leadership Program includes 30 members, including general managers and executive directors in government agencies, and covers 6 training courses that include: Government accelerators, anticipating the future, designing policies and strategies, digital transformation, government innovation, and flexible leadership.
The program aims to empower members with the best specialized skills, and build the capabilities of government leaders to raise the level of performance and enhance government administration, by developing their leadership and administrative skills, and introducing them to the best innovative practices in leadership, which contributes to enhancing their participation in leading development and development efforts.
The delegation of the Government Knowledge Exchange Office held a series of meetings with ministers and officials of the Government of the Republic of Seychelles, during which the developments of the strategic partnership and its future prospects were reviewed.
The meetings included meeting with each of: His Excellency Nader Hassan, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Seychelles, His Excellency Peggy Vidot, Minister of Health, His Excellency Marie-Céline Zialor, Minister of Youth, Sports and Family, His Excellency Billy Rangasamy, Minister of Lands and Housing, His Excellency Patricia Francourt, Minister of Employment and Social Affairs, and His Excellency Ted Barbie, Commissioner of Police.
The delegation of the Government Knowledge Exchange Office, accompanied by His Excellency Billy Rangasamy, Minister of Lands and Housing, and His Excellency Nader Hassan, Minister of Finance, made a field visit to the site of the project to establish the Center for Government Services and Government Accelerators in Seychelles, during which it learned about the work developments in the project, which is one of the outcomes of the partnership between the governments of the two countries.
During the activities of the World Government Summit 2022, the governments of the two countries launched a strategic partnership in the areas of government modernization, within an agreement signed by His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and His Excellency Devika Vidot, Minister of Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry in Seychelles.
The partnership covers areas including; Capacity building, civil service, government services, government competitiveness, government accelerators, policies and strategies, financial sector, urban planning, and government performance.
