The bad weather that is raging across much of Italy has not spared either Pirelli testsorganized in the splendid setting of Mugello from the Italian tire dealer. There should have been two days of activity: Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 October. However, the weather did not cooperate: Tuesday’s program was originally supposed to be divided into two parts.
The team Red Bull Racingwhich lined up Liam Lawson ahead of his new Racing Bulls debut in Austin, was tasked with work on finalizing the compounds for 2025 while the McLarenwhich had Lando Norris at the wheel of one mule carhe would have to experience for the first time i prototypes of the tires that will be used starting from 2026. These new tires will feature the same rim diameter (18”), while the width and outer diameter are slightly smaller, both on the front and rear axle.
However, this whole plan was ruined by the too extreme weather conditions: in addition to the rain, in fact, the poor visibility around the Tuscan circuit prevented the air ambulance from being able to take off for a long time and, consequently, the cars were unable to run for almost the entire day for obvious safety reasons.
Today a second attemptin the hope that the downpours of these days will grant at least a partial respite: the two teams present today, who will use the same drivers, will also be joined by the Scuderia Ferrari which, with Charles Leclercwill also work on tires for next year.
