Wayne Rooney, coach of Plymouth FC, competing in the English Football League, faces three charges from the English Football Association, after using hostile words towards the referees.
Rooney complained that the equalizer was awarded to Blackburn in the final minutes of the confrontation that brought them together last Saturday.
Rooney was sent off before Plymouth scored the winning goal in the seventh minute of stoppage time for the match.
The English Football Association stated that Rooney was accused of using “hostile and insulting words” and then displaying “inappropriate and violent behavior following his sending off, and then repeating the inappropriate behavior by returning to the match field.”
The English Football Association gave former Manchester United star Rooney one week to respond to the accusations.
