The Ministry of Culture and a delegation from the Emirates Journalists Association discussed, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, ways to enhance joint cooperation, to support the Ministry’s initiatives, publicize the importance of heritage and the arts, both tangible and intangible, and consolidate national identity.
The delegation was received by Mubarak Al-Nakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry, and a number of representatives of the Ministry, while the delegation of the Emirates Journalists Association included, Fadila Al-Muaini, Chairman of the Association’s Board of Directors, and Mohammed Al-Tunaiji and Hassan Omran, members of the Board of Directors.
The meeting highlighted ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides, with regard to supporting the programs and initiatives undertaken by the Ministry, promoting state-led efforts at the regional and international levels, cultural mobility, supporting the cultural and creative industries sector, paying attention to and supporting Emirati creators, and other files undertaken by the Ministry. The meeting discussed the importance of the role played by press institutions in highlighting issues of tangible and intangible heritage, and their impact in introducing the Ministry’s efforts in this pivotal file. During the meeting, the delegation was briefed on the most important initiatives and programs undertaken by the Ministry to support cultural industries, such as The National Program for Granting Culture and Creativity, which aims to strengthen the state’s commitment to supporting, developing and sustaining its cultural and creative sectors, and to benefit from investment opportunities in creative people, who play an essential role in national efforts aimed at building a sustainable creative economy for future generations.
The delegation was also briefed on the Ministry’s efforts, which led to the election of the UAE as a member of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the period 2024-2028, in addition to a number of other initiatives.
For her part, Fadila Al-Muaini presented an overview of the activities and programs of the Emirates Journalists Association, and its efforts to support journalists and advance Emirati journalism, to be the expressive and truthful face of the Emirates in particular and the Arab world in general, and to raise the cultural and professional level of journalists, and to sponsor local journalistic cadres, and encourage them to engage in journalistic work. And work to refine and develop their capabilities, and provide them with all possible types of support.
