The director of Monetary Policy at the Central Bank and nominee for president of the institution from 2025, Gabriel Galípolo, explained this Tuesday, 8th, that he was instructed to maintain formality during the hearing when referring to parliamentarians, but apologized in advance due to some “slip”. “Among the various pieces of advice and guidance that I received from the Central Bank’s parliamentary advisors, one of them was for me to observe and monitor formality when I addressed senators. But arriving here and finding and remembering and having the feeling of the way I was received by this house, my feeling of gratitude for this house and the way I was received, I thought it was prudent for me to start apologizing for a possible slip”, he said during a hearing at the Senate’s Economic Affairs Committee (CAE).
He highlighted that he was received by the senators, despite the period of municipal elections, as soon as he was nominated by the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
“I make a point of publicly recording all the conversations I had with all the senators, each question, each piece of advice, each question were always in the sense of concern, demand and destiny of our people and our country”, quoted Galípolo. “All the questions, all the advice from those who know Brazil more deeply that I had the opportunity to hear.”
