Industrial production grew in 12 of the 18 locations surveyed in August 2024 compared to August 2023, according to data from the Monthly Industrial Survey – Regional Physical Production, released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) this Tuesday, 8. “ It is worth mentioning that August 2024 (22 days) had 1 less working day than the same month in the previous year (23)”, recalled the IBGE.
In São Paulo, the largest industrial park in the country, there was an expansion of 1.2%. The other gains occurred in Ceará (17.3%), Pará (16.9%), Mato Grosso do Sul (12.4%), Minas Gerais (7.3%), Bahia (5.6%), Region Northeast (4.5%), Paraná (3.7%), Pernambuco (3.4%), Santa Catarina (3.3%), Maranhão (2.1%) and Amazonas (1.1%).
In the opposite direction, there were losses in Rio Grande do Norte (-22.6%), Espírito Santo (-6.0%), Rio Grande do Sul (-5.2%), Goiás (-2.8%), Rio de Janeiro (-1.4%) and Mato Grosso (-0.6%). On the global average, the national industry grew 2.2% in August 2024 compared to August 2023.
