Nintendo Switch 2 will support all Unreal Engine 5 technologiesincluding the just announced MegaLights feature: this is claimed by the editors of the English magazine Digital Foundry, who discussed the issue in one of their latest podcasts.
In answering a user’s question, the authors stated that technologies such as Lumen, Nanite and Virtual Shadow Maps will definitely be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware by virtue of the console’s architecture, and the same goes for MegaLights despite specific performance objectives.
That’s not all: there is a possibility that versions of these features have been developed specially designed for Nintendo Switch 2which can therefore function natively in particular conditions which obviously depend on what the actual power of the console will be.
The discussion is also linked to the history of Nintendo Switch, which already supports the Epic Games graphics engine and will therefore continue to do so with the next model, with more or less impressive results depending on the skills of those who will try these tools, of course.
Nintendo Switch 2 VS Steam Deck
Will Nintendo Switch 2 be less powerful than Steam Deck? Digital Foundry also spoke about this, saying that the performance differences between the two handhelds they could leave whatever time they find, given that we are talking about very different platforms.
Considering that Nintendo Switch 2 will focus above all on first party titles, optimized specifically for this console, any comparison will be limited to those situations in which the two systems will find themselves running the same third party game.
