Red Bull reorganization
It’s a period of big changes at Red Bullas Jos Verstappen had prophesied at the beginning of the year following the argument with team principal Christian Horner. The reigning world champion team is adapting to the numerous exits through a phase of profound internal reorganization which, at least for the moment, seems favor the promotion of internal figures in roles of increasingly greater responsibility. For example, it will happen to Hannah Schmitz, promoted to head of team strategies after Will Courtenay’s exit, and in the meantime it has already happened to Gianpiero Lambiasewho will take over some sporting director duties with the departure of Jonathan Wheatley.
Verstappen happy for Lambiase
Extra charges and honors for the track engineer Max Verstappenwhich however do not worry the champion. Indeed, having established that his trusty “GP” (this is how Lambiase is informally called in the paddock) will continue to support him from the wall during the race weekends, the three-time world champion was happy to accept the news of the English coach’s career advancement : “The fact that he has more responsibilities in the team doesn’t worry me. Actually, him he was already much more than just my race engineer, so I think the promotion was well thought out and basically spreads the workload a little better. So, that’s fine with me”.
Max awaits the developments of the RB20
One less worry, in short, in view of a season finale that promises to be very hot despite a safe lead (for now) in the standings over his friend-rival Lando Norris. Much will come from the updates which, at least in Horner’s hopes, should restore the RB20 to the competitiveness it has lost along the way. Maybe already starting from Austin.
“I still don’t know when they will arrive or what the technical developments will be like – Verstappen told the Formula 1 website – but we are trying to find the balance again. Already in Baku we took a small step forward, but now we must continue on that path. Obviously, in Singapore it wasn’t possible to understand much, but we hope that in the two-three weeks before Austin it will be possible to improve the car. There are still some GPs on the calendar and I think we will have the chance to do that, which will also help next year’s car”.
