She and others are said to have attacked people in the middle of Budapest who, in their view, belonged to the right-wing spectrum. The federal prosecutor’s office is now bringing charges against the woman.
Karlsruhe – A suspected left-wing extremist arrested in Nuremberg in May is expected to appear in court soon. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office in Karlsruhe has brought charges against Hanna S. before the State Security Senate of the Higher Regional Court (OLG) in Munich.
According to the highest German prosecution authority, the woman is said to have joined a left-wing extremist criminal organization that uses violence against people from the right-wing spectrum by the beginning of February 2023 at the latest. Hanna S. is said to have been involved in two attacks on three people in Budapest.
Victim attacked with batons and hammer
She is accused of first discreetly pursuing her victims in February last year together with other members of the association and then suddenly attacking them with, among other things, batons. During the first attack, a man was knocked to the ground and hit his head and upper body with great force with batons. He suffered severe head wounds.
In the second attack a day later, two people were beaten with batons and a hammer, according to the prosecution. The victims were then sprayed with pepper spray. They suffered cuts and bruises.
Association rejects democratic constitutional state
According to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, members of the association of which Hanna S. is said to have been a member share a militant left-wing extremist ideology and reject the democratic constitutional state. The association is credited with at least five attacks on people who, from the attackers’ point of view, were part of the right-wing spectrum. Hanna S. was arrested in Nuremberg on May 6th and has been in custody ever since.
The incidents occurred on the occasion of the so-called Day of Honor, when right-wing extremists from all over Europe come to Budapest every year to mark the attempt by the German Wehrmacht, the Waffen SS and their Hungarian collaborators to break out of the city under siege by the Red Army on February 11th To commemorate 1945. dpa
