Basketball|Markkanen was the Utah Jazz’s best scorer in a victorious practice game against the Houston Rockets.
The Utah Jazz superstar Lauri Markkanen was his team’s leading scorer last night as the Jazz defeated the Houston Rockets 122-113 in a preseason game.
Markkanen played a good 24 minutes and scored 17 points. Just a Houston back Jalen Green recorded a tougher reading with his 21 points.
Although the points were accumulated quite comfortably, Markkanen’s throw did not fall in the best possible way. Only 3/11 of the field goal shots and 0/3 of the threes were sunk. Instead, Markkanen was a familiar sight at the free throw line and bagged 11/13.
One game situation basket was born from a donk of John Collins for a clever pass. Collins put the ball on Houston by Steven Adams between the legs to Markkanen, who had an easy job of hitting the ball into the basket.
Markkanen and Collins fanned the basket by making binoculars out of their hands to underline Collins’ eye for the game and pass.
Jazz also took joy out of the situation and published a video showing only Markkanen’s “binoculars” in his eyes.
“Without eyes,” Jazz wrote in Spanish along with the video.
The Jazz play four more practice games before the start of the NBA season. The team will next face the Dallas Mavericks the night before Friday. The Jazz open the season on October 24 with a home game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
