Mexico City.– Next Saturday, in the Senate of the Republic, a draw will be held to determine part of the positions that will be elected on the first Sunday in June to implement the judicial reform.
Gerardo Fernández Noroña, president of the Board of Directors, clarified in an interview that the draw will cover half of the courts.
“It is not a reform, it is already a Constitution, it is current law in the country, and this reform to the Electoral Law and the Electoral Procedures Law will allow a much more solid framework for this historic, unique, very important process of electing the people judges,” he explained. “In fact, he announced this Saturday, October 12, that the drawing will be held publicly for the positions that will be chosen, because half of the courts, of the heads, of the people in charge of the courts, will be chosen this first Sunday of June 2025, all the magistrates, circuit court magistrates, all the members of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, but half of them already have to be sorted.”
Fernández Noroña reiterated that in the first half of October the call will be issued for the Executive, Legislative and Judicial Branches to present their candidacies and all current people, judging people, have a direct pass to the election, if they so decide.
