Mexico City.– President Claudia Sheinbaum warned tonight that the possibility that Hurricane ‘Milton’, which has reached category 5, could hit the coasts of the state of Yucatán is not ruled out.
Through a video, published on her social networks, the federal president reported that the meteorological phenomenon is located 115 kilometers from the municipality of Celestún, so in the next few hours heavy rains and winds will be recorded.
“The Civil Protection Coordination and the National Meteorological Service inform me that it is around 115 kilometers from Celestún and in the next few hours there will be heavy rain and winds,” he said. “This hurricane, it is not even ruled out that it could hit the coast.”
The Chief Executive made a special call to the inhabitants of Yucatan to remain attentive to Civil Protection information from both the State Government and the federal Government.
He asked the population in low-lying areas to move to shelters and assured that the Marine Plan, the Sedena DN-III Plan, and the National Guard Plan are already in place. “Always remember to stay calm, be attentive to official information, and that prevention is our strength,” he said.
