Saeed joined his supporters in the middle of the street, raising his country’s flag, and stressed in his statements, “Today, what Tunisia is experiencing is the continuation of the revolution, and we will continue, applaud, and purify the country of spoilers and conspirators.”
He continued, “Tunisia will remain free and independent forever and will not accept external interference.”
The participation rate reached 28.8 percent in the elections, in which Saeed faced two competitors, namely Zuhair Al-Maghzoui, head of the People’s Party, and Al-Ayachi Zamal.
Zamal came in second place with 7.35 percent of the votes, while Al-Maghzawi came in third with 1.97 percent of the votes.
