Doctor Gandelman said mashed potatoes are good for the heart
Cardiologist German Gandelman and immunologist Andrei Prodeus called on the air of the program “Live Healthy!” on Channel One the benefits of mashed potatoes. The release with explanations from experts is available on website TV channel.
Gandelman said that potatoes contain potassium. This microelement is involved in the functioning of the electrical system of the heart, he clarified. “If there is little potassium, arrhythmia occurs,” explained the cardiologist. He added that the condition can be life-threatening.
Prodeus, in turn, said that potatoes also contain the trace element cobalt, which makes the process of cell division possible. According to the doctor, this process is especially important for blood cells that carry oxygen – red blood cells. “We must produce one million red blood cells every second. What is needed for this? So that the cells divide,” Prodeus concluded.
Earlier, Prodeus and ophthalmologist Mikhail Konovalov revealed to Russians the benefits of potato pies. Doctors said that potatoes contain a substance that is beneficial for bone health.
