NHL hockey|Jesse Puljujärvi would seem to have a solid position in the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Ice hockey player Jesse Puljujärvi, 26, appears to have made his way into the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup for the NHL season opener.
The Penguins will face the New York Rangers on the night before Thursday Finnish time.
In the opening match, Puljujärvi will probably be in the same attack chain by Lars Eller and by Rutger McGroarty with. The trio trained together in Monday’s practice and will form a triple or quadruple squad in the opening match.
The same chain wreaked havoc in the Penguins’ last practice game against Columbus. Puljujärvi and McGroarty recorded 1+2 power points each and Eller 2+2 power points.
According to the journalists reporting on the Penguins’ training on the spot, Puljujärvi is also part of the second top five.
Puljujärvi played a great training season. He was the Penguins’ most effective forward in practice games with his power points of 4+4=8.
Puljujärvi both hips were operated on a year ago in the summer, and now the Finnish jässikka has recovered after a long rehabilitation in excellent playing condition.
Puljujärvi signed a two-year contract with Pittsburgh in February, but arrived at training camp as a contender. He claimed a spot in the NHL lineup thanks to his convincing displays.
Pittsburgh’s second Finnish forward Valtteri Puustinen, 25, will probably be out of the lineup for the opening match.
Brad Lambert, 20, starts his season in the AHL. His club Winnipeg Jets decided to send the Finnish promise to the farm team.
At the beginning of the training camp in Winnipeg, the idea was entertained that Lambert, who played an excellent season in the AHL, would have already been able to become the second center in the NHL. At least that hasn’t happened yet.
Winnipeg will almost certainly be among the first to call Lambert back to the NHL if the team suffers from injuries.
