At Motegi, with four races still to go in the championship and after a literally dominated season in which he achieved 10 victories in 16 GPs contested, Colombian David Alonso won the Moto3 world title.
A special triumph which also earned the Aspar home talent, already nicknamed ‘baby GOAT’ by the official MotoGP account, some high-level compliments. In fact, at the end of the Japanese race, the eight-time world champion was among the first to congratulate Alonso when he was still on his bike. Marc Marquez and the three-time world champion – and current reigning MotoGP champion – Pecco Bagnaia.
The two – who will team up in the official Ducati team next year – have exchanged a nice ‘high five’ with the class of 2006 who seems to have already written in his destiny a future as a motorcycling phenomenon. Alonso was also inundated with social messages of appreciation, with many two-wheel champions applauding his first career world title. Almost certainly not the last one.
