Police had to interrupt the massive party at Närpiö’s Ylimarkku observatory over the weekend.
The police were called to the scene at midnight on Saturday because of a disturbing commotion, says the communications manager Mikael Appel From the Ostrobothnia Police Department.
When the police arrived, the parking lot of the monitoring house was full of cars.
“Music plays both inside the observatory and in the cars. The mess was tough,” says Appel.
The police removed about 250 revelers from the place. According to Appel, the partygoers were young people between the ages of 15 and 25, most of whom were intoxicated.
The announcement of the public event had not been made, and no organizer or person in charge could be found at the place. The police interrupted the party and the doors of the observatory were locked. A criminal complaint has been filed regarding the violation of assembly and the police have started a preliminary investigation.
According to Appel the police’s picture of the evening’s events has become more detailed.
“There have been some kind of disco parties there, word of which has spread and outsiders have come,” says Appel.
The police continue to investigate the case.
The Ostrobothnia Police reminds that the event must be reported to the police if it is open to the public and there may be hundreds of participants, the event continues past ten in the evening, or the event requires order control and traffic control.
In events with more than 200 people, rescue planning is also needed.
