Ziad Al-Makari, Minister of Information in the Lebanese caretaker government, expressed the gratitude of the Lebanese government and people to the United Arab Emirates, in appreciation of the great support it provided in light of the difficult circumstances that Lebanon is experiencing due to the Israeli war.
Al-Makari praised the humanitarian and medical aid provided by the UAE, stressing that it was one of the first countries to rush to Lebanon’s rescue and provide the necessary assistance.
Al-Makari said in an exclusive interview with the Emirates News Agency, WAM, during his visit to France: “The UAE really surprised us. It was the first country to come to our humanitarian and medical aid while we were under bombardment.”
Al-Makari extended his deep thanks to the UAE, noting that its rapid response and great support represent an important turning point in this critical stage that Lebanon is going through.
He also thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Republic of Egypt for their continued support for Lebanon in this crisis.
Al-Makari added: “The UAE allocated aid worth $100 million to us, and sent medical and food shipments that we desperately need.” This support is not just temporary assistance, but rather an expression of real solidarity between Arab brothers.”
He said: “The air bridge flown by the UAE to provide relief to the Lebanese people came at a sensitive time, as Lebanon is subjected to continued Israeli aggression, and the country is going through a stifling humanitarian and health crisis.”
Al-Makari stressed that this aid represents a lifeline for the Lebanese who suffer from a severe shortage of medical and food resources as a result of the continuous bombing, praising the support of our Arab brothers.
He pointed out that the aid of the UAE, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Egypt constitutes a debt owed to Lebanon and its people, which will remain engraved in memory as a sign of Arab solidarity in times of crisis.
Regarding field developments in Lebanon, Ziad Al-Makari strongly condemned the Israeli aggression against his country, and described the ongoing attacks as a “brutal and unjustified act” aimed at destroying Lebanese infrastructure and targeting civilians.
Al-Makari said: “Israel continues its aggression against Lebanon, and we strongly condemn this escalation that threatens our security and stability.” The bombing that Beirut and other areas of the country are subjected to is a clear violation of international and humanitarian laws.”
Al-Makari called on the international community to intervene immediately to stop this ongoing Israeli aggression, noting that the continuation of this escalation will lead to a humanitarian catastrophe in Lebanon, expressing his hope that the world will move to impose an immediate ceasefire.
The Lebanese Minister of Information expressed his deep concern about the escalation of the situation and Lebanon’s transformation into a “second Gaza.”
He explained that Lebanon is subjected to Israeli bombing on a daily basis, noting that Beirut, the Bekaa, Mount Lebanon, and the south are daily targets for Israeli aircraft.
Al-Makari said: “We always believe that there is little hope for diplomatic solutions, but we face a harsh field reality. Lebanon is under 24-hour bombardment. The situation is unprecedentedly tense, and we hope that there will be international solutions to stop this aggression that threatens our stability and our future.”
He stressed the importance of continuing Arab and international support for Lebanon in light of this crisis, pointing out that Lebanon is going through its most difficult stages, and that it needs all possible assistance from its Arab brothers and the international community.
He praised the humanitarian initiatives launched by the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, expressing his hope that these efforts will continue so that Lebanon can overcome this ordeal.
