FSB: in Yakutia a foreigner who financed terrorists from Syria was sentenced to 9 years
In Yakutia, a court sentenced a 23-year-old native of Central Asia who financed Syrian terrorists to nine years in prison. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Russian Federal Security Service for the region.
The foreigner was found guilty under Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 (“Promoting Terrorist Activities”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. He will serve his sentence in a maximum security colony.
According to the department, the man, under the influence of a compatriot, became an adherent of radical Islamists. He negotiated with members of a terrorist organization banned in Russia on WhatsApp and transferred money to them.
Earlier, FSB officers detained a Moscow resident who was involved in financing an international terrorist organization.
