Ciudad Juárez.- Verónica González, 48 years old and breast cancer survivor, attended yesterday the “Siempre Rosa” event, organized by the Sertoma Chamizal Club for women of the Protective Association of Children with Cancer of Ciudad Juárez, AC (Aprocancer). Eyebrow pigmentation, hairstyle and makeup were part of this activity, which had the purpose of raising the security and self-esteem of women breast cancer survivors, within the framework of World Breast Cancer Day, which is commemorated every October 19. . “For me it was very encouraging because they invited me to participate, I think my self-esteem was hurt after such a difficult treatment and illness, and I did feel resigned with my eyebrows that no longer appeared, and when they called me for the event, I was very pleased and made the decision to participate because I think it is a very good event for the community and for us who have survived this disease,” commented the interviewee. It was in May 2018 when Verónica was diagnosed with breast cancer on the left side, and after her treatment she went to the association to seek psychological support, she commented. “The most difficult thing was that when I was diagnosed I had a little girl who was only three years old and my children were 8 and 14 years old. It was hard because you are faced with the unknown, I didn’t know what was going to happen, if we would have the means to face this disease. so hard, that’s why I came here to ask for support because I was in a very deep depression,” said the interviewee. For his part, Luis Manuel Sánchez, member of the Sertoma Chamizal Club and in charge of the event, said that the focus of this activity was for women cancer survivors, who were also given makeup and a hairstyle. “It’s about giving them personal security, and making them feel like complete women, survivors, but we want them to feel beautiful,” she commented. Eight micropigmentators from León, Guanajuato, Monterrey, Chihuahua and Colorado participate in the event. In addition, seven makeup artists and stylists joined, said the interviewee. This idea was developed in the United States, in Colorado, and was brought to the border by Luis Manuel Sánchez, who said that they will replicate it every year. “Always Rosa” was held at the Aprocancer facilities, from 10:00 in the morning to 6:00 in the afternoon.
