Mindeporte responds
He Ministry of Sports spoke about what was explained from the Colombian Olympic Committee and pointed out that an agreement was reached with the Colombian Motorcycle Federation to provide economic support to Colombians by 2024.
“During 2023, the Ministry of Sports signed an agreement with the Colombian Motorcycle Federation for the amount of $500,000,000. A budget addition in the amount of $250,000,000 was projected to said contract to leverage the international participation of several pilots, including David Alonso, with support of $100,000,000,” he began by saying.
Mindeporte alleges that the contract in question was not legalized by Fedemoto within the estimated time, as it had to be done before the Moto3 World Championship came to an end in November 2023.
“However, in order to make this addition, the national federation had to legalize 50% of the total contract value before the drivers completed their sporting calendars. However, this legalization was only fulfilled until mid-December, when David Alonso had already finished his season.”
For the 2024 season, the ministry indicated that in the agreement with Fedemoto For this 2024, an economic stimulus was never included for David Alonso. “Likewise, for 2024, an agreement was signed with the same Federation to support its management, also for $500,000,000, a value assigned according to the project presented by the Colombian Motorcycle Federation in which it did not contemplate any incentive for Alonso.”
Finally, he indicated that the 18-year-old Colombian’s entourage never submitted a request for support for this season that is coming to an end.
“It is also essential to clarify that, to date, the pilot in question has not formalized or presented to Mindeporte, in his personal capacity, any request for support for his 2024 calendar,” he revealed.
