Juarez City. – It is expected that in November the transfer of operations to the new facilities of the Abraham González international airport will take place, “which will mark a milestone in the history of the airport,” said Óscar Ibáñez, representative of the governor.
Last Friday, members of the Regional Economic Development Council (Coder) of Juárez took a tour of the airport facilities with the aim of supervising progress in the expansion works.
This visit is part of a process of monitoring the remodeling work that aims to modernize and increase the operational capacity of this connectivity point.
“During the tour, we were able to see the progress in the installation of escalators, elevators and other equipment, observing that only some minor details remain pending before the inauguration,” said Ibáñez.
He added that the expansion of the airport is considered a project of great relevance for Ciudad Juárez.
“With the remodeling, the airport’s capacity is expected to double, significantly increasing its operational potential. Seven boarding and disembarkation points are also contemplated, which will facilitate the flow of passengers and the mobilization of materials,” said the official. state.
This will not only benefit travelers, but will also positively impact economic activity in the region.
Ibáñez highlighted that the airport has crucial importance for business tourism, but also for the population in general, since it is used by a wide spectrum of users.
In this sense, airport infrastructure has become one of the pillars of connectivity on the border, an essential aspect for the economic development of the region.
The modernization of the airport could also boost the growth of other sectors by facilitating access to services and products, he pointed out.
Regarding the operation of the loading area, Ibáñez reported that it will continue in the current facilities, although an additional budget will be allocated to improve the tracks and loading infrastructure.
This decision responds to the needs of the business sector, which has requested an expansion of cargo operations, and even the construction of a new airport exclusively for this purpose.
During the tour, not only the technical aspects of the work were discussed, but also the improvements that are being implemented to improve the passenger experience.
“These include the creation of a care area for pets, as well as a recreation area for children waiting for their flight,” said the state representative.
These additions seek to make the airport experience more comfortable and pleasant, highlighting a focus on customer service, he added.
The investment in this project is not only limited to the remodeling of the facilities, it also includes improving the accessibility and operational efficiency of the airport.
It was mentioned that existing runways have already been reinforced and that additional improvements are planned to ensure optimal operation in the future.
Although some minor work is scheduled to be completed in March next year, the aim is for the new facilities to begin operating in November without interruption.
The importance of the Ciudad Juárez International Airport transcends its function as an entry and exit point for passengers.
It is a strategic infrastructure for mobility and commerce in the border region, a link between Mexico and the United States that facilitates both tourism and commercial exchange.
“With the expansion and modernization of the airport, we seek not only to meet current demand, but also to position Ciudad Juárez as a growing logistics hub,” said the state official.
The expectation for the completion of the works is high, both on the part of the members of the Council and the community in general.
The improvement in airport infrastructure is seen as a long-term investment that will have positive repercussions on the economic development of the city, boosting tourism, industry and commerce.
“With the aim of improving the capacity and experience of passengers, the new airport is expected to become a fundamental pillar for the growth and development of the region in the coming years,” concluded Ibáñez.
