In conjunction with World Teachers’ Day, which falls on the fifth of October every year, and the Third International Forum for the Arabic Language, which was organized by the Sharjah Private Education Authority in cooperation with the Sharjah Education Academy under the slogan “Growth and Belonging: Linguistic Investment… Promising Horizons and a Tool for Innovation,” which concluded its work today, the The Authority has 3 specific initiatives targeting the educational field and mainly improving the quality of education to reach international levels.
The initiatives are in line with the Authority’s goals and priorities aimed at improving the educational system in private schools in the emirate, especially with regard to the performance of educational institutions, in a way that ensures that they meet the needs and required skills, while improving the efficiency of the working cadres.
The first initiative launched by the Sharjah Education Authority, “Passion for Arabic,” carries a number of goals aimed at formulating policies that make teaching and learning the Arabic language fun and a passion. The initiative is an approach followed by Sharjah in teaching and learning Arabic to native and non-native speakers, as the initiative reflects the educational community’s enthusiasm for the Arabic language, The program focuses on comprehensive care for the needs of learners, instilling loyalty to cultural values, and the use of modern tools to enhance learning. The name was derived from the passion of the educational family, including mothers, fathers, teachers, and students, for the Arabic language. The letter “Shin” symbolizes comprehensiveness in caring for and advancing the needs of learners for the language. In Arabic, the letter “Ghain” refers to planting the seeds of belonging, loyalty, and loyalty to the values and customs represented by the Arabic language, while the letter “F” expresses the various arts and contemporary tools whose reference is dictionaries and sources, and whose horizon is research and scientific studies, with the sustainability of endearing the Arabic language.

The “Arise for the Teacher” initiative is a pioneering community initiative launched by the Authority under the royal directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The initiative calls on members of society, whether students and their parents, school owners, school administrations, and the relevant educational bodies and ministries to Supporting the teacher, enhancing his status and raising the quality of his life, each according to his role and specialty. The initiative has 8 main goals, which are to enhance the value of education and the teacher in the educational and pedagogical process, highlight its great impact in shaping the future of generations, improve the quality of the teacher’s life and well-being by providing a stimulating and supportive educational environment by improving working conditions, and provide the necessary support to teachers to enhance the quality of their professional and personal lives and support Policies that contribute to achieving a balance between the work and personal lives of teachers, such as organizing working hours and providing sufficient vacations, which contributes to raising teachers’ morale. The initiative also aims to stimulate community cooperation by encouraging all groups of society, including students, parents, and school principals, Universities and educational bodies must participate effectively in supporting teachers, in addition to the initiative’s role in developing teachers’ skills by providing training programs and workshops to improve teachers’ educational and pedagogical skills, which enhances their ability to provide high-quality education.
“Qom for the Teacher” seeks to build a bridge of communication and understanding between educational institutions and the local community to enhance support for teachers, raise awareness of their role, and provide the necessary resources and support to improve the mental health of teachers, while working to encourage cooperation between government agencies and private companies to support initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education and the well-being of teachers. And stimulating innovation in education by supporting the qualitative ideas that teachers contribute.
The teachers’ proposals for the initiative included providing health insurance for the teacher and his family, setting a minimum salary, creating a comprehensive digital platform for the privileges and benefits that the teacher receives, supporting the teacher’s status and respect in the field while working to enhance his quality of life, in addition to legalizing the teacher’s quorum. The initiative also included providing Dispute Resolution Office “Tawafuq” works to create a fair and transparent environment for all workers in educational institutions.
The forum, which witnessed the participation of specialists, experts and workers in the educational field, discussed the results of the standard tests of the Arabic language for its speakers, the “Tala’ test”, which measures progress in the comprehension reading and writing skills, as students of the Emirate of Sharjah in private schools in the academic year 2023-2024 achieved levels above average. At all levels, the test identifies learning gaps, allowing teachers to design training programs based on students’ performance to improve their language skills. The “Talaa” test also allows collecting accurate data to identify educational problems and provide effective intervention strategies for teachers, as Deglossia, the entity that provides the test, relies on data analysis to provide innovative educational solutions that support the development of students’ skills in the Arab world. The Digital Language Library Initiative was also announced. Arabic as an extension of the “Read You in Sharjah” campaign and the launch of the “Jewel of the Arabic Language” award within the categories of the Sharjah Award for Excellence and Educational Excellence in its twenty-ninth session, for which all public and private schools in the country compete, in order to promote the Arabic language and enable the entire school community to possess Arabic language skills. And its application in the fields of science and life.
