Market suggestions
This year’s crazy driver market, full of surprising changes to the line-ups in view of the 2025 season, had among its most frequent rumors that of the return to the track of Sebastian Vettel. The four-time German world champion, who will retire at the end of the 2022 season, has been linked to this or that team several times. In particular his arrival at Sauber/Audi seemed possible for a long time given the hiring – by the House of the Rings – of figures who have worked with Vettel in the past such as Mattia Binotto and Jonathan Wheatley. At the moment, however, the chances of seeing the former Ferrari and Red Bull standard-bearer back in the cockpit seem slim.
I exclude the return
Vettel also carried out tests with the Porsche team this year, driving the 963 Hypercar in preparation for his possible participation with the Teutonic giant in the 24 hours of Le Mans, but in the end he did not take part in the legendary French endurance race. According to the designer Adrian Neweyjust hired for the next season by the Aston Martin team and who worked for many seasons alongside Vettel at Red Bull, the German will never compete again.
“His return? No, I don’t see that possible – declared Newey speaking on the High Performance Podcast and responding to suggestions on Vettel’s possible future in the Circus – he is enjoying his life and has moved on. He’s doing different things and that’s a credit to him“said Newey.
