TOtlético Nacional suffered the unspeakable against a Deportivo Pasto team that deserved the draw and perhaps the victory, but ended up winning a dramatic match with a goal from Andrés Felipe Roman in added time, a 1-2 that leaves those led by Efraín Juárez in third place in the BetPlay League table.
According to the criteria of
Everything happened in the last minutes. But before that, at 20, Román had scored the goal that gave Nacional the lead in the first half, when he fell into the area to finish from the right after a clearance from Marino Hinestroza.
However, the greens, who played in white at the Libertad stadium, had a hard time maintaining the lead. Pasto went on top of him and made a figure of goalkeeper Luis Marquínez, who stopped six goal balls, four of them in the second stage.
Vibrant end to the game between Pasto and Nacional
Nacional’s resistance lasted until the 83rd minute, when Daniel Moreno, the League’s top scorer, finished with his left foot and passed the ball at an angle to Marquínez after a clearance from Kevin Londoño.
When Pasto seemed to continue passing him by, he made a mistake that, in the long run, ended up costing him the game: on a throw-in by Juan Esteban Franco, José Abad Cuenú fell asleep and Kevin Viveros stole the ball from him. He had half the playing field ahead of him and no resistance. Goalkeeper Diego Martínez came out to cut him off and touched the ball outside the area with his hand. Red sung.
There were two minutes left, plus the addition, and the local team had already made the five changes. Daniel Moreno went into the goal and began to think about a miracle: in the first action he had, he stopped as best he could, putting his hands out of instinct, a free kick from Pablo Ceppelini.
Moreno had a couple more saves, when a desperate Nacional, who had not kicked on goal in the second half before the red, went all out to seek victory. And he ended up finding it on a rebound that Román took advantage of in the sixth minute of replacement.
Nacional reached 22 points and could get even closer to the top of the League on Wednesday, in the postponed game against the needy Deportivo Cali at the Atanasio Girardot stadium, most likely behind closed doors (7:30 at night).
Pasto will also catch up with the championship that day, earlier (4 pm), in its visit to another team with trouble in the relegation table, Envigado.
