Jantetelco, Mexico.- President Claudia Sheinbaum assured that the Judiciary will be elected by the people, so there will be no room for the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) to interpret whether the reform was constitutional as it intends to do.
As she did during the campaign, the now President asked attendees to vote by show of hands if they were in favor of the Senate appointing the ministers or, on the contrary, they preferred a popular election.
“There it is. The people decided that not only should there be democracy to elect the president, not only to elect deputies, senators, the governor, the local Congress, but now the judiciary is elected by the people of Mexico “, he indicated after the attendees raised their arms in favor of the direct election. “And it will be like this, because in Mexico those governments that served a few are over. The second floor of the Fourth Transformation is of the people, by the people and for the people of Mexico,” he warned.
This week, the SCJN yesterday opened a controversy to decide whether it has the power to review the reform of the Judicial Branch approved by Congress, and, if applicable, reverse or annul it.
Sheinbaum recalled that during the campaign he consulted in public squares about whether reform of the Judiciary was wanted and after the June 2 elections, the 4T not only won the Presidency of the Republic, but also the majority in Congress to make this reform possible. “Now, there are some ministers of the Supreme Court who do not want that to happen,” he accused. On her first tour of the country, the President announced that starting next Monday the census will begin to deliver pensions to all women between 60 and 64 years old. “We are going to put up tents throughout the country. It starts next Monday, we don’t waste time, it starts on Monday. “So, on Monday everyone has to go, we are going to start with 63 to 64 and then 60 to 63 , to register. They have to bring some very simple requirements, their CURP, their birth certificate, voter ID and that’s it, those three requirements,” he explained.
