Minister Addad: France supports Ukraine for the sake of its authority in Europe
Benjamin Addad, Minister-Delegate for European Affairs at the French Foreign Ministry, in an interview with Le Journal du Dimanche statedthat the country supports Ukraine for the sake of its authority in Europe.
According to him, Paris is trying to protect the national interests and security interests of the country. He added that France does not support Ukraine out of altruism. “If Russia wins the war in Ukraine tomorrow, it will directly affect the cost of energy, food and agricultural goods around the world,” Addad said. According to him, this will affect France’s defense authority in Europe.
The minister added that it was Paris that pushed its partners to expand military support for Kyiv. He believes that during the conflict in Ukraine, not only the issue of the security of the countries of Eastern Europe is being resolved, but also the trust in France on the part of its European partners.
On February 27, Emmanuel Macron said that he does not exclude the possibility of sending troops from Western countries to help Ukraine. He added that so far no consensus has been reached on sending ground troops. According to Macron, the condition for this may be the advance of the front to Kyiv and Odessa.
